How do I preserve spray paint on canvas?

I plan to start spray painting on canvas. This will be my first time painting on this material, so I had a couple questions about preservation. Do I have to apply anything to the canvas before I spray paint? And what do I apply after my art has dried in order to preserve the piece? If I combined the use of acrylics with spray paint, should I apply something else to preserve both mediums?
