My sister made me a wall hanging using plastic canvas and yarn. I would like to know how to clean it without destroying it. It took her a long time to complete and it has sentimental value. I called the local dry cleaners and they said, "The plastic will melt." Well, DUH!!! If you have sucessfully cleaned a plastic canvas wall art, please tell me how…. It is not on a frame of any type, no wood or cardboard backing…Mine is dingy and I would like to make it look better. Thanks in advance.

I want to cut into an already strechted canvas. What can I paint or spray on it to keep the canvas from curling once I have cut into it?

I recently opened up a photography studio and am interested in selling canvas portraits. There are lots of companies that do plain, flat canvases. I am not crazy about an oil painting, but would like a regular looking photograph with thick, shiny brush strokes. I have been reading about making damar varnish, but don’t know if it would make the print on the canvas fade/ run. I would much rather find a company that does it, though. I sure could use some help!

I’ve bought some canvas from Michael’s, but I have a feeling they’re not good quality. I don’t like the grain of the canvas, and the wood doesn’t look like it’s good quality. It’s really light and easy to snap. How can I tell what canvas brand to buy and how can I tell that it’s good? Does it matter whether you buy a good canvas to paint on or not? I paint with oils.

What would make the best canvas for a folk art piece that will feature many different materials? Included in this creation will be shingles, outdoor carpet, and possibly other materials. I assume the different attachments will be applied with glue so what would make the best canvas? I have seen plywood used as a canvas in some folk art in a local gallery, but that seems a bit too primitive.
